An original lithograph with signature in grey lead pencil. There was extensive discolouration and foxing throughout, with the dark brown spots detracting from the image. The lithograph was adhered to a matboard backing, which was most probably contributing to the discolouration. We first needed to remove the artwork from the backing prior to cleaning treatments. To restore the artwork to a more readable image we:

• carefully removed the backing matboard using manual methods

• washed the artwork with a custom tailored pH solution to reduce the appearance of stains

• flattened and dried the artwork for reframing
