This painting developed mould on the media surface, likely from a highly humid microclimate within the framing. White fluffy mould had grown in spots ranging from a pinhole size to 25mm in diameter. To remove the mould from the painting we:

• removed mould using dry methods of cleaning

• chemical treatment to neutralise active mould

• retouched small losses of media
